Overview

A style tier list is only useful if it explains itself. Placing Rin at the top means nothing if you do not know whether the ranking rewards shot power, mobility, team utility or something else entirely — and different lists weigh those very differently.

Our placements combine four things: raw shot quality, mobility and escape tools, defensive value, and how much the kit asks of its teammates. A kit that needs a specific partner loses points even when its ceiling is high, because most players queue alone.

The table below uses the community ranking that has been reviewed most thoroughly, and marks the kits released afterwards separately. Those newer additions are genuinely contested, and pretending otherwise would be worse than admitting the disagreement.

Top Tier:Rin (SSS)
Best Value:Kunigami (Rare, A tier)
Highest Skill Gap:Yukimiya
Best Beginner:Isagi
Rarities:Mythic → Uncommon

The Community Tier Discussion

This breakdown walks through the rankings live, which is useful for seeing where the reasoning agrees with ours and where it diverges. Rankings are opinions with evidence behind them, not measurements.

The Style Tier List

Read the reason column before the tier column. Most disagreements about tier lists come from players valuing raw power over the utility that actually decides matches.

Rarity and tier are not the same thing, and the Kunigami row is the clearest proof: a Rare kit that outperforms several higher rarities.

TierStyleRarityWhy It Sits Here
SSSRinMythicNo weak phase: elite mobility, finishing and a functional counter
SShidouMythicReflex Shot has air invincibility; Dragon Header defends as well as it attacks
SBachiraEpicDeepest combo kit in the game, with Monster Flick and Free Touch
ABarouLegendaryRaw power and simple play; Lion Shot remains the hardest hit in the game
AKunigamiRareBest Rare in the game; Iron Head plus Hero's Fortitude counter
BChigiriRareSuperb off-ball mobility, held back by an injury bar and weak close-range shot
CIsagiUncommonForgiving beginner kit with Off-Ball Movement, but limited shooting power
💡 Several entries carry restrictions worth knowing — Shidou loses points for a predictable shot pattern, and Chigiri has an injury bar that punishes spamming his moves.

How We Rank a Style

Every placement runs through the same four checks. Knowing the method lets you re-evaluate a kit yourself when a balance patch lands.

1

Score the shot quality

Can the kit finish from range, from close, and under pressure? Kits that only work in one scoring situation are capped no matter how strong that situation is.

2

Score the escape tools

Dribble moves, feints and mobility decide whether you keep the ball at all. A kit that cannot escape pressure never gets to use its shooting.

3

Score the defensive value

A counter or steal ability is worth a full tier in organised lobbies, where losing possession is the most common way teams concede.

4

Score the teammate dependency

Kits needing a specific partner lose points for solo play but gain them in coordinated lobbies, which is why some placements shift depending on how you play.

💡 A rare kit that scores well across all four checks will always outrank a Mythic with one brilliant ability and three holes.

Kits Released After the Ranking

Several kits arrived in later updates and are not yet settled in the community ranking. Treat these as provisional, because early impressions of a new kit are usually too generous.

When a new style lands, we note it here first and only move it into the ranked table once results stabilise.

Sae

A playmaking kit built on Chemical Reaction. Ceiling is high in a duo and genuinely weak without one, which makes it hard to place with a single number.

NEL Isagi

Movement and flow windows rather than a single signature shot. Strong in possession-heavy lobbies, weaker in broken play.

Kaiser

Pure power. The Impact shots overpower most blocks, but the kit needs space and offers little else.

Kurona

A support linker. Undervalued by individual metrics and highly effective next to a finisher, which is why support kits trend towards the middle of most lists.

💡 Provisional kits are re-evaluated after each patch. Check the update log for balance changes before assuming a placement still holds.

Picks That Beat Their Rarity

Rarity measures drop odds, not strength, and a handful of kits comfortably outperform their label. These are the ones worth rolling for even if you already own something rarer.

If you are short on spins, the first two on this list are the best value in the game.

  • Kunigami (Rare) — the strongest Rare available, with a top-tier awakening and flexible shots.
  • Isagi (Uncommon) — a genuinely competitive beginner kit that scales with awakening timing.
  • Bachira (Epic) — out-damages several Legendary kits in the hands of a player who learns the combos.
  • Chigiri (Rare) — still the best off-ball mobility in the game despite the nerf and injury bar.

How to Use This List

The correct way to read a tier list is as a shortlist, not an instruction. A B-tier kit you have practised for twenty matches will beat an S-tier kit you picked up an hour ago, every single time.

Find the kits near the top that match how you like to play, then commit. If you prefer creating chances, the playmaking entries are worth more to you than the highest-rated finisher — and the ego tier list matters just as much for the final result.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Which style is the best in Goalbound?

Community rankings overwhelmingly place Rin at the top because it has no weak phase. Shidou and Bachira follow closely, and both are cheaper to obtain than the Mythic kits above them.

Does a higher rarity mean a better style?

No. Rarity reflects drop odds only. Kunigami is a Rare kit that outperforms several Legendary and Epic styles, and Isagi is an Uncommon that remains genuinely competitive.

Should I reroll for a top-tier style?

Only if you already have nothing playable. A practised mid-tier kit beats a fresh top-tier one, and the free spin sources are limited enough that repeatedly rerolling wastes them.

How often does this list change?

Every balance patch triggers a review. Nerfs to mobility or shot power can move several entries at once, and the update log records when the last change landed.

Why are new styles not ranked yet?

Because early impressions are unreliable. New kits benefit from unfamiliarity, so we wait for results to stabilise before assigning a fixed tier.

Is the list different for solo queue?

Yes, in the margins. Self-sufficient kits rise and duo-dependent kits fall, which is why teammate dependency is one of the four factors we score.

Do egos change these rankings?

They can. A strong ego can lift a weaker kit by a full tier, which is why the two lists are meant to be read together rather than separately.
